On the same wavelength

Give up and know that I am God....(Psalm 46:11 HSV)
Be still, and know that I am God.... (Psalm 46:10 NKJV)

A radio is a device that picks up radio waves through an antenna and converts the sound information contained therein into sound. In the old days, you had to turn the radio's knobs to find the right wavelength. That way you could hear what the station was broadcasting. When people are "on the same wavelength" we mean that they understand and agree with each other. To hear God and get to know Him, we must tune into His wavelength and agree with His Words. We find His wavelength by becoming still.

Becoming quiet in the Bible means much more than just not making a sound. The Hebrew word for "give it up" also means coming to rest, relaxing, relaxing, letting go, surrendering yourself and becoming still. This is the quieting of our soul. In other words, putting aside the restlessness, stress, obligations and worries that so often control us for a deep trust in a caring Father. The Bible therefore calls us to this in several places:

Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7 HSV).
Therefore do not be anxious... (Matthew 6:31 HSV)
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 HSV)
Entering the rest of God (Hebrews 4:10-11)

Knowing that God is God means getting to know Him very confidentially and intimately. In other words, you become more and more on the same wavelength with Him. This happens when all the noise in life dies down and you come to a total surrender to Him. This happens when you receive with open arms the words of Jesus "It is finished!" that He cried out on the cross. What is accomplished? Everything! Jesus Christ, through His suffering, dying and rising, provided for every need of every human being. We so often try to provide for ourselves what is needed, whereas Jesus Christ has already provided for all that is needed. In Christ is:

Every sin forgiven,
Every addiction liberated,
Every curse broken,
Curing every disease,
Every trauma recovered,
Meeting every need,
Every sorrow comforted, and
Any pain relieved.

The redemptive work of Jesus is so great that we can never grasp it with our human brain. Through biblical meditation (pondering, pondering) on the Word of God, we can receive His Words into our hearts. After all, we believe with our hearts and not with our minds. The Word of God sinks from our heads into our hearts when we take time to ponder His Word.

The Hebrew word for "give up" is very closely related to the word for healing. And therein lies the key. When we learn to let go, give up, relax and rest in trust in what Jesus has done, restoration and healing takes place in our bodies and souls. When our attention is fully focused on Jesus, the other things in and around us fade away. We enter a state of rest and relaxation in which our bodies can recover and heal. Practically, you can do this by, for example, literally becoming still and meditating on the word of God. Lying on your bed, sitting in a chair or walking outside. Shut yourself off from everything that is on your mind and focus your thoughts on Jesus. Search and find your way to tune into the wavelength of God and you will come to know Him better and better.
